Dental Implants

One of the best ways to replace missing teeth or anchor dentures

Dr. Day is a dental implant dentist in Palisade Colorado. He takes care of dental implants all in office, from the first exam to the last placement of the replacement tooth.

Dental implants are the closest thing to the look and feel of natural teeth than any other way of replace missing or overly decayed teeth. The implants are titanium anchors that look like screws and replace the natural root of a tooth. They attach to the jawbone and gums to create a stable base for one or more artificial teeth. Dental implants  secure a single crown, a partial or an entire set of dentures. Unlike regular dentures the teeth secured by implants are not removed at night for soaking or cleaning and adhesives are not needed to hold them in place.

The Implant Process

There is usually three steps to the implant treatments that can span several months from start to finish.

In the first step Dr. Day surgically places the implant in the jaw with the top of the implant slightly above the top of the bone.  The gum is then secured over the implant. It is left to heal for three to six months in which time the bone fuses to the implant.

In the second step, Dr. Day uncovers the implant and installs an extension to the implant that the gums are then allowed to heal around.  Once healed this extension can serve as the foundation for the artificial tooth; crown, partial or dentures.

In the third procedure Dr. Day connects the crown, partial or dentures to the implant. These artificial teeth will have the same size and color as natural teeth.
