Types of Dental Implants

Best Dental Implants

The best dental implant for each patient is determined during the implant consultation appointment. Our implant dentist will help the patient understand the pros and cons of each option and then a treatment plan will be created for the best dental implant solution. Dental implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth because they are secure and give you a permanent solution. The best dental implants are determined at an implant consultation during the first implant appointment. Palisade Dental provides the best dental implants for Grand Junction, Palisade, CO, and the surrounding areas.

Single Tooth Implants

single tooth dental implant Usually a dental implant is used to replace a single missing tooth. It requires one post and one crown. Unlike crowns or fillings, a single tooth dental implant replaces an entire missing tooth from root to crown with an artificial tooth. If you have one missing tooth or multiple that are not adjacent to each other, then a single tooth dental implant may be your best option.

Implant-Supported Bridge

dental implant supported bridgeWhen there are multiple missing teeth next to each other,  your best option may be an implant-supported bridge. Usually, a bridge has two crowns on either side of your missing tooth with an artificial tooth connected to those those crowns in between bridging the gap. In the case of an implant supported bridge, the crowns are connected to dental implants. These dental implants that support the bridge are similar to a single tooth dental implant. However, the missing teeth between the implants will be an artificial tooth with no implant under it. An implant-supported bridge usually has a lower cost for replacing multiple missing teeth in a row because you’re not replacing each tooth.

Implant-Retained Denture

If the majority or all of the teeth are missing then an implant-retained denture may be the best option.

Usually a denture rests on the gums and gives the appearance and function of a full set of teeth. However traditional dentures are removable, this means they may slip or fall out. This sometimes makes eating or talking difficult. Dentures supported by dental implants fixes this problem.

Normally,  four dental implants on each arch will support dentures. The implants hold the dentures secure in place and prevent them from moving. If our patients have existing dentures they can be modified so they can be worn while the implants are healing. Then, custom dentures are made that attach right to the implants. This is a great solution to a lot of denture problems.
